One of the most overlooked health concerns in our country is the quality of air that we breathe inside our homes and workplaces. The Science Advisory Board (SAB) of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has consistently ranked indoor air pollution among the top 5 environmental risks to public health, and has found that the air inside our homes generally has 2 to 5 times more pollutants than the air outside our homes. In some instances inside air was found to be100 times worse. In our homes, the dust, pollen, pet dander, and microbial organisms such as bacteria, mold, and fungus are all major factors in many of the diseases and allergies which threaten our families.
Common long and short term health problems associated with poor indoor air quality may include asthma, headaches, fatigue, shortness of breath, sinus congestion, coughing, sneezing, dizziness, nausea, irritation of the eyes, nose, throat and skin, etc.
There is much that can be easily done to increase the quality of air in your home. We have special tools and methods which we will use to measure and analyze the 4 important factors which can affect air quality: 1) Moisture or relative humidity, 2) Temperature, 3) Air movement, and 4) Airflow volume.
Most air quality problems stem from poor airflow, high humidity, dirty duct work, grimy coils, full drip pans, and humidifiers, all of which we can clean, adjust, and service for you. Research also shows that the majority of a/c filters that are used in our homes are extremely ineffective at cleaning our air. We will consult you on which types and brands of filters are the best for your a/c system.
